Program Requirements
- Students enrolled in the program will participate in curricular and extracurricular activities. The Honors curricular activities comprise of a Business Honors Learning Community, seven Honors designated sections of the required business curriculum, internship and shadowing program, and a research-consulting project. Extracurricular activities of the College of Business Program comprise of service to the community, mentoring from students and faculty, and personal development workshops.

A Unique, Rigorous Learning Experience
Honors students acquire a unique, rigorous learning experience by integrating academic, applied and social aspects as discussed below. The program will emphasize lifelong learning and the systems thinking approach as the foundation of all aspects of the program.
Academic Aspect
CoB Honors students will have a unique and rigorous experience to develop the core business technical skills and applied research skills needed to excel in today’s business environment. Students will acquire these skills through:

- honors sections of COB core requirements (e.g. marketing, finance, etc.)
- honors seminars exploring current industry issues and the systems thinking approach
- honors seminars exploring the foundations of research and the variety of methods used in research
Applied Aspect
The COB Honors Program will have an applied approach to delivering the academic skills outlined above. The program will utilize problem-based and experiential pedagogy in the context of current industry problems and needs. The applied focus will be emphasized through:

- a slightly more rigorous problem-based learning approach to the core functions within businesses delivered in the Integrated Business Cluster
- a consulting project delivered in the cluster
- an applied research project exploring a current business issue selected by a board of industry professionals
- a shadowing experience
- on-site visits to companies from at least three industries
Social Aspect
Social or soft skills are essential for success in business. For this reason, we take a social approach to learning and development in our honors programs. The program will focus on developing students’ ability to work effectively in high performing teams through multiple group projects. Our program will also include a strong emphasis on faculty and student relationships. Our students will learn social skills and apply their skills through:

- an academic classroom experience in a management course
- applied problem-based learning projects in the Integrated Business Cluster and research project
- applied service projects
- social skills workshops within the honors seminars
- a mentoring program that includes peer mentoring and faculty mentoring
