Sales Certificate Curriculum with Semester credit hours

 

Core Requirements:

  • MKT 3580* - Foundations of Professional Selling (3)
  • MKT 4680 - Consultative Sales (3)
  • MKT 4780 - Sales Strategy & Technology(3)


Required Practicum:

  • MKT 4910 - Sales Internship (3)

Advanced Courses (must select one):

  • MKT 4250 - Business-to-Business Marketing (3)
  • MKT 4580 - Sales Management (3)
  • MKT 3280 - Social Media in Sales & Marketing (3)
  • MKT 4080 - Global Sales (3)

 

Cross-disciplinary Requirements (must select one):

In addition to the courses listed above,an additional cross-disciplinary courses (3 hours) are needed to fulfill the 18-hour requirement.  The following courses are suggested.**

  • COMS 1030 - Fundamentals of Public Speaking (3)
  • COMS 2060 - Communication in Interpersonal Relationships (3)
  • COMS 2150 - Argumentative Analysis and Advocacy (3)
  • ET 2800 - Engineering and Technology Overview (3)
  • FIN 2020 - Foundations of Financial Management (3)
  • JOUR 2500 - Introduction to Strategic Communication (3)
  • PHIL 1300 - Introduction to Ethics (3)
  • SASM 4350- Sport Promotion & Sales Management (3)

* Marketing 2020 or 2400 is a prerequisite for Marketing 3580.

**Other cross-disciplinary courses that support the certificate curriculum may be substituted with the approval of the Executive Director of The Sales Centre at Ohio University.

COMS Majors may NOT select COMS courses as electives.
